The Zamfara State Government has deployed 1,474 security personnel across the state to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, disclosed this after a high-level security meeting in Gusau.
In a statement by his media aide, Suleman Ahmad Tudu, the deployment includes police, civil defence, intelligence officers, road safety personnel and explosive ordnance disposal teams.
The SSG said the meeting was convened at the instance of Governor Dauda Lawal to assess security preparedness ahead of the festivities.
He said the personnel would work with local authorities on intelligence gathering, surveillance, patrols and traffic control across the 14 local government areas.
Nakwada commended security agencies for their efforts and assured them of government support.
“I assure you that Governor Dauda Lawal is ready to provide the necessary support for you to perform your duties effectively despite limited resources,” he said.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies, stressing that security was a collective responsibility.
The SSG also called on traditional and religious leaders to promote unity and peaceful coexistence during the festive period.
The meeting was attended by heads of security agencies and other government officials.
