The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Zamfara State has rejected the purported congresses conducted in the state.
The State Chairman of the party, Kabiru Garba, stated this while briefing journalists in Gusau.
He alleged that some individuals were attempting to hijack the party’s structure.
Garba maintained that genuine members of the party would not accept such actions.
He further noted that the party in the state had not officially scheduled any dates for ward, local government, or state congresses.
The chairman questioned the legitimacy of a purported congress reportedly held late at night in Gusau, during which some individuals allegedly handpicked their friends and relatives as new officials without his consent as the state chairman.
The chairman called on the party’s national leadership, led by David Mark, to urgently intervene and address the situation.
He further issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the national body to resolve the crisis.
The ADC in Zamfara also announced that a new date for its congresses would be released within the next 24 hours.
