Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has described opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a party of jokers, which can never win election in Kano.
Yusuf said this while addressing a large crowd of supporters at the Government House, Kano, shortly after returning from the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention in Abuja and the party’s Northwest Zonal Congress held in Kaduna.
The governor expressed confidence of winning his reelection in his new party, saying his administration is doing its best to deliver dividends of democracy.
“There was only one term in the NNPP, and we will go for a second term in the APC. As for the ADC that they moved to, it will never have even a single term.”
“Kano and Nigeria are solidly behind APC and APC is the only winning Party, therefore, Nigerians and indeed Kano people should not be carried away by the euphoria of so-called ADC and other parties.
“ADC, NNPP and any other parties are a part of jokers who could not make any meaningful political gains despite their groupings.
“You have in the last two to three years seen our efforts, if you give us another mandate, we will surely do more in terms of empowerment, Infrastructural development, education which is our centre stage policy, health and agriculture with portable water supply across Kano.”
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as efforts to improve the economy and provide infrastructure across the geopolitical zones.
“Mr President has been doing his best for this country. He has improved the economy and is working to ensure that infrastructure is provided across the zones within the available resources,” he said.
The governor also declared that the people of Kano would support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
“We in Kano State are fully behind Mr President and will support his re-election in 2027 by the grace of Allah,” he added.
Yusuf further described the APC as the dominant political platform capable of winning elections at all levels in the state and across the country.
“The APC remains the only winning party in Kano State and Nigeria,” he said.
He congratulated party members in the state over what he described as successful outings during the zonal congress and national convention.
The governor pledged that his administration would continue to prioritise the delivery of dividends of democracy, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and youth and women empowerment.
Earlier, Yusuf arrived at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to a rousing reception by supporters, who lined major roads including Katsina Road, Emir’s Palace Road and Sabon Bakin Zuwo Road, chanting party slogans and cheering as his convoy passed.
The reception culminated at the Government House, where the governor addressed the crowd.
