Carloha Nigeria, the official franchise holder and assembler of Chery vehicles in Nigeria, has introduced the Chery Q, a compact electric hatchback aimed at expanding access to smart and sustainable mobility in the country
The new model continues the heritage of Chery International’s iconic QQ family, combining its compact design philosophy with electric power, intelligent technology and advanced safety features
Developed around the theme “Quest for Joy,” the Chery Q targets young professionals, families and urban motorists seeking cleaner and more connected transportation
It’s design, recognised with both the Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award, features distinctive geometric styling, rounded LED lighting and a modern two-tone interior
Despite its compact dimensions, the vehicle offers an 85 per cent space-efficiency ratio It measures 4,195mm in length with a 2,700mm wheelbase, while luggage capacity can expand from 375 litres to 1,450 litres. It also comes with a 70-litre front trunk and 38 storage compartments.
The Chery Q is built on a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive platform with independent suspension and balanced weight distribution Electric Power Steering and One-Box Brake-by-Wire technology are designed to improve handling, braking response and energy recovery.
Safety is another major feature, with a Level 2 Intelligent Driver Assistance System offering more than 20 functions These include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent High Beam Control, a 540-degree panoramic camera and Automated Parking Assist.
Inside the cabin, the vehicle features a 156-inch high-definition touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, intelligent voice control, 50W wireless charging and remote vehicle management through a mobile application provide additional connectivity.
For electric mobility, the Chery Q offers an estimated 400-kilometre range under the NEDC standard Its fast-charging system can recharge the battery from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in 16.5 minutes, helping reduce charging downtime.
The vehicle also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing owners to use the vehicle’s battery to power electrical devices and equipment
General Manager, Marketing, Carloha Nigeria, Felix Mahan, described the introduction as the fulfilment of the company’s earlier promise to bring another Chery electric vehicle to Nigeria
“The arrival of the Chery Q represents the fulfilment of that promise Further, it demonstrates Carloha’s commitment to expanding access to smart, sustainable, and technologically advanced mobility solutions in the country,” Mahan said.
He added that the model represented a milestone in the company’s drive to provide world-class mobility solutions, combining premium design, technology, electric performance and value
The Chery Q also comes with CarlohaCare 6-6-7, comprising a six-year warranty, six years of free service and a seven-day repair promise Under the programme, customers will receive a courtesy car if repairs are not completed within seven days.
Carloha said the Chery Q is available at its showrooms nationwide as the company continues to expand its range of electric and technologically advanced vehicles in Nigeria
