Renowned former Nigerian footballer and esteemed coach, Lawrence Akpokona, is currently receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) due to a critical spinal cord injury.
Since October 13, 2025, Coach Akpokona has been under continuous medical care, having undergone three significant surgeries. His health remains precarious, necessitating urgent medical attention and financial assistance.
Appeal for Support
A heartfelt appeal has been directed towards the Edo State Government, Delta State Government, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and the National Sports Commission, urging them to provide assistance to the veteran coach who has greatly influenced Nigerian football both as a player and a coach.
