The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that Nigeria will face Zimbabwe’s Warriors in the opening match of the 2026 Unity Cup.
The four-nation tournament, staged in England since its inception in 2002, forms part of the multicultural carnival held annually in South London.
According to the NFF, Jamaica and India are the other teams participating in the competition, scheduled to run from May 26 to May 30.
The Super Eagles, winners of all three previous editions, will take on Zimbabwe in the first semi-final on May 26. India and Jamaica will contest the second semi-final on May 27 to determine the other finalist.
The final match will be played on May 30, with all fixtures set to hold at The Valley, home ground of Charlton Athletic FC.
In a statement, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau expressed confidence in the team’s readiness to defend their title under head coach Eric Chelle.
“The Nigeria Football Federation is pleased with another opportunity to see the Super Eagles compete at the highly exciting and entertaining Unity Cup Tournament.
“As perennial champions, the Super Eagles will look to retain their title again this summer, even as they will not underrate the other participating teams viz India, Jamaica and Zimbabwe.
“The tournament promises to be explosive and that is the setting in which the Super Eagles thrive best.”
Gusau added that the competition offers another platform for the team to prove itself, especially after missing qualification for the last three FIFA World Cup tournaments.
