Trust Radio, a broadcast arm of Media Trust Group, has emerged as the winner of the 2026 West Africa Sustainability Award (WASA)
The broadcast outfit was recognised as the West Africa Most Sustainable Terrestrial and Digital Audio Services Company of the year 2026 at the Summit held on Friday in Lagos
It was adjudged the winner owing to its credible news, current affairs, public affairs and entertainment radio platform with a strong focus on issues that matter to Nigerians
Themed: “Accelerating Africa’s Green Transition: People, Planet & Prosperity,” WASSA 2026 focused on six thematic pillars: ESG Integration and Corporate Accountability; Climate Finance and Green Investment; Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security; Youth, Gender and Inclusive Sustainability; Policy, Regulation and the Green Economy; and Technology, Innovation and the Digital Green Transition
Receiving the award on behalf of Trust Radio, the Regional Manager, Southern region, Taofeek Oyeniyi, described the award recognition as the media outfit’s commitment to excellence
He added that Media Trust, the publisher of the Daily Trust, Weekend Trust, Teen Trust and Aminiya, serves the interest of the people with an integrated approach where stories and programmes can move seamlessly from newspaper and digital platforms to radio, television and social media
“Trust Radio complements Media Trust’s established print, television and digital operations, creating opportunities for audiences to access content across multiple platforms,” he said
He stressed that Trust Radio is positioned to expand through online streaming, podcasts, social media content and other digital audio formats
“This provides an opportunity to reach audiences beyond its traditional FM footprint while creating additional channels for audience engagement and revenue generation,” he added
