Topaz House emerged as champions of Lagooz Schools Sports Festival 2026, after securing 43 medals to finish as the overall best on the medals table.
The dethroned Onyx House were winners of the last edition when Topaz House finished in 3rd position.
Participating in both indoor and outdoor events which included darts, chess, scrabble, shot put, table tennis, ludo, archery, 25m, 50m 100m and 400m races in both boys and girls categories, Topaz House hauled 18 gold, 13 silver, and 12 bronze medals.
Beryl House finished in second position with 40 medals after winning 14 gold, 9 silver, and 17 bronze while Pearl House claimed third with 36 medals, comprising 10 gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze.
Onyx house settled for fourth position with 31 medals, made up of 8 gold, 15 silver, and 8 bronze.
The proprietor of Lagooz Schools, Chief Yomi Otubela, underscored the importance of the festival, saying it was more than a mere competition.
“The Lagooz Sports Festival transcends athletic rivalry. It is a celebration of strength, unity, discipline, and the enduring spirit of excellence that defines our school.
“Sports remain one of the most effective platforms for building character, nurturing teamwork, and instilling resilience in our young people,” he said.
The school’s principal Olivet Otubela emphasized the school’s investment in sports education, saying it is part of the school’s extra-curricular activities.
