President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will overcome terrorism and insecurity, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the country.
He made declaration while the commissioning of the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport in Iperu, Ogun State.
Tinubu emphasized that strengthening security remains a top priority of his government, alongside economic and infrastructure development.
According to him, ongoing investments in security infrastructure and coordinated national efforts would ensure that violent threats are defeated.
He said the government is resolute in confronting terrorism and restoring peace nationwide.
“We will overcome violence and terrorism,” the President declared, noting that improved security measures are being integrated into broader development initiatives, including transportation, agriculture, and energy projects.
He explained that the administration’s reforms, though challenging, are already yielding progress and positioning the country for long-term stability.
Tinubu added that a secure environment is essential for economic growth and national prosperity.
The President’s remarks came amid rising insecurity and killings across the country.
Just today and barely 24 hours after Tinubu met grieving families of victims killed in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, armed men have wreaked yet another havoc in the state.
During the brief meeting which held at Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos, the President assured the people that such attacks would never happen again.
“To the victims, there is nothing I can give you, whether in billions of naira, but I can console you and promise that this experience will not repeat itself,” Tinubu had said.
However, at least three persons were shot dead in Nyango Gyel community of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau, on Friday night.
Daily Trust gathered that the attackers invaded the community around 10:40 pm, shooting sporadically before fleeing.
The Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, who confirmed the incident, described it as another senseless assault on innocent citizens going about their normal businesses.
“This cycle of attacks on our rural communities must stop. We call on security agencies to act swiftly and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
“We urge heightened vigilance among residents of rural communities in Jos South, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas,” he said.
In Nasarawa State, about 11 residents of Udege Development Area in the Nasarawa Local Government of the state, were confirmed dead following renewed clashes between two communities in the area.
The two warring communities, Akyawa and Udege Kasa, clashed in the early hours of Friday over some disagreements.
