Thousands of supporters of former Zamfara State Governor Abdul’aziz Yari on Tuesday marched through Gusau, the state capital, in support of the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal
The supporters, drawn from Yari political organisations, Yari Support Mobilisation Groups and the 774 Initiative, trekked several kilometres through the city before converging at the Zamfara State Government House
The solidarity walk was led by two former state APC chairmen and a former local government chairman
Speaking at the Government House, a former APC state chairman, Tukur Danfulani Mai Katako, said the rally was organised to demonstrate the support of Zamfara people for President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC)
“Thousands of people witnessed this solidarity walk It is a strong message to the world about how Zamfara supports President Tinubu and that we are all for the APC,” he said.
A former chairman of Tsafe Local Government Area, Aliyu MC., said the supporters were also expressing appreciation to Tinubu for appointing Yari as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council.
Another former APC state chairman and leader of AA. Yari political organisations, Lawal M. Liman, presented a letter to the state APC chairman, Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji.
Liman said Yari’s appointment had made the people of Zamfara proud, describing him as a man of integrity, honesty, dedication and courage
“Yari can deliver He is a man of integrity, honesty, dedication and courage in achieving the desired objectives, and his people will vehemently support him to ensure his success,” he said.
Receiving the letter, Magaji assured the supporters that he would convey their message to Governor Lawal for onward transmission to President Tinubu
The governor, represented by his deputy, Mani Mummuni, commended the organisers of the solidarity walk
Mummuni said the turnout demonstrated the support of Zamfara people for Tinubu and what he described as the president’s achievements
The march began at the Gusau Trade Fair Complex, about six to seven kilometres from the Government House, where the participants presented the letter.
