Some notable figures of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are currently at the convention organised by the faction of the party loyal to Nyseom Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The convention, which is ongoing at Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, is being monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) represented here by two National Commissioners – Prof Sani Adams (SAN) and Dr Ken Ukeagu.
Among those present are former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, former Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwanbo.
Others include Senate Minority leader, Abba Morro, Mao Ohabunwa, BoT Chairman of the Wike faction, former Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, and so on.
Wike arrived the venue at about 7:25pm in company of some party leaders, including the Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee of Wike’s faction, Abdulraman Mohammed and Ohuabunwa.
Upon the minister’s arrival, the National Anthem was immediately rendered, signalling the official commencement of the day’s proceedings.
Already seated are delegated from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
According to the organisers, over 2,000 delegates across the 36 states attended the convention.
