FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli has assured club fans that Nigerian striker Terem Moffi will score more goals for the club.
Farioli made the assurance amid plea for patience for the Super Eagles player during his Saturday press conference for the Portuguese league match at Estoril on Sunday.
Moffi joined Porto from French Ligue 1 side Nice in January on loan with an option for the Portuguese table toppers to sign him in the summer, and the 26 years old forward has scored just two goals and one assist in 11 appearances.
Moffi missed gilt-edged chances in Porto’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in their Europe League quarter-final first leg match, and was substituted to boos from fans in the 60th minute.
In the aftermath of the performance, Farioli assured fans Moffi will bounce back to lead the team in the most important phase of the season.
“We know that our fans are demanding, which is good. In the match against Nottingham, there was a moment of some frustration, but he’s trying his best, working hard in recent months.
“He’s on the right track, he’s already scored important goals for us and more will come.”
The Italian boss assured that Moffi and his teammates won’t back down, despite facing possible exits from two major cup competitions- Europa League and Portuguese Cup.
“The frustration and emotion of the moment must remain in that moment; the Porto family must be united and undoubtedly support the team, showing that all the players are focused on what’s best for FC Porto.”
