Wike-Backed PDP Faction Rejects ADC Merger, Threatens Legal Action Against Impersonators
- The Nyesom Wike-backed PDP faction has formally ruled out any potential merger or coalition with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
- National Chairman Hon. Abdulrahman Muhammed has threatened legal action against individuals misrepresenting the party.
- The faction maintains that unauthorized negotiations undermine the party’s integrity and violate existing court orders.
The internal power dynamics within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have taken a sharp turn as the faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has firmly rejected any possibility of a merger with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This declaration comes amidst growing speculation regarding the party's future strategic alliances and internal restructuring efforts.
Firm Stance Against Unauthorized Coalitions
During the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted National Working Committee (NWC) held at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza in Abuja, the leadership made its position clear. Hon. Abdulrahman Muhammed, the National Chairman of this faction, emphasized that the party remains focused on its internal stability rather than pursuing external coalitions that lack official authorization.
Muhammed addressed the recent activities of other party elements, specifically those led by Turaki, who had previously engaged in discussions with ADC chieftains. While acknowledging the fundamental right to freedom of expression, the Chairman warned that such actions would no longer be tolerated if they involve the unauthorized use of the PDP’s name or brand.
Legal Consequences for Misrepresentation
The faction has signaled a readiness to escalate the matter to the judiciary. According to Muhammed, the PDP is prepared to initiate legal proceedings against any individuals or groups whose conduct borders on contempt of court or deliberate misrepresentation. The leadership views these unauthorized merger talks as an attempt to bring the party into disrepute and a direct challenge to the current NWC’s authority.
“The PDP will take all necessary legal steps.
