Palestinian Authority's Call for Action
The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) has intensified its efforts to expel the Israeli Football Association (IFA) from international football following a FIFA disciplinary report.
PFA President Jibril Rajoub, addressing a press conference in Al-Bireh, West Bank, asserted their unwavering commitment to ensuring the IFA's removal from global football institutions.
FIFA's recent decision to fine the IFA 150,000 Swiss francs for multiple breaches of anti-discrimination obligations was deemed significant by Rajoub, but he argued that it did not go far enough.
Allegations and Concerns
Rajoub highlighted the IFA's alleged 'racist nature', pointing to the disciplinary committee's findings regarding Beitar Jerusalem's persistent racist behavior. He also accused Israeli sports officials of criminal activity, referencing the deaths of athletes and the destruction of sports facilities during the Gaza war.
Furthermore, the PFA president criticized the inclusion of football clubs from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank within the IFA, a practice deemed illegal under international law by the UN.
Despite FIFA's decision not to take action over Israeli clubs' participation in Israel's leagues, the PFA remains resolute in its pursuit of a ban.
