APC Chairman Highlights Opposition Parties' Internal Crises as Leadership Warning Signs
Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has recently underscored the turmoil within various opposition parties in Nigeria as a significant indication of their inadequate readiness for effective governance. His comments came during an address in Abuja, where he navigated critical issues concerning the nation's social, political, and economic management.
Yilwatda articulated that any political organization that struggles to manage its internal affairs, reconcile diverse viewpoints, impose discipline, or foster consensus among its members cannot be entrusted with the intricate responsibility of governing a multi-faceted federation such as Nigeria.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Mr. Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda elaborated on the alarming manifestations within many opposition parties, which include:
- Continuous internal explosions and factional disputes
- Legal confrontations
- Conflicts arising from individual egos
- Fundamental ideological vacuums
He cautioned that these issues are not merely political difficulties but are indicative of deeper structural deficiencies and managerial shortcomings. "It would be politically reckless for the populace to entrust their future to political entities that have consistently demonstrated an inability to govern their internal affairs," Yilwatda remarked.
He further stressed, "A party that cannot govern itself cannot govern Nigeria. If a political platform is ensnared in self-created crises, affected by internal sabotage, and frail due to poor management, it has no legitimate claim to seek the public's mandate to lead the nation."
Yilwatda called upon Nigerians to exercise discernment, urging them to differentiate between:
- Noise and actual capability
- Propaganda and genuine preparation
- Opportunism and authentic leadership
