Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has said his political future is in the hands of God
Omisore, a former senator representing Osun East, spoke on Tuesday in Osogbo during a programme organised by his political associates to mark his 69th birthday
He said he had entrusted his future to God as he approached the seventh decade of his life, adding that he would accept whatever plan God had for him
“My political future depends on God’s plan for me I am in the hand of God. Whatever His plan for me is good,” he said.
Also speaking, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke described Omisore as an agent of development whose contributions to the growth of the state were significant
In a statement congratulating the former deputy governor, Adeleke said Omisore had contributed to the development of Osun through his professional career, public service and political engagement
The governor said Omisore had demonstrated courage, wisdom and commitment to the progress of the people throughout his career as an engineer, deputy governor, senator, traditional leader and community builder
He wished Omisore fulfilment as he continued to contribute to society
Earlier, the Catholic Bishop of Osogbo Diocese, Most Rev John Oyejola, urged Omisore to continue dedicating his life to the development of humanity.
Oyejola said Omisore’s current political status was part of God’s plan for his life, describing politics as a vocation of service
He urged the former senator to see the next phase of his life as an opportunity to mentor younger leaders, promote values and contribute to institution-building
The bishop said Omisore could continue to influence society through mentorship and by serving as a voice of conscience, regardless of whether he held political office
He prayed that Omisore’s later years would be marked by peace, honour, influence and joy
