Senator Solomon Adeola Calls for Restraint Among Supporters
By James Ogunnaike, Abeokuta
In a recent statement, Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents the Ogun West Senatorial District, addressed his supporters, urging them to refrain from displaying campaign billboards and posters that imply his gubernatorial ambitions for the 2027 elections.
Adeola's plea, communicated through his Media Adviser, High Chief Kayode Odunaro, highlights his concern regarding the recent rise in campaign materials appearing throughout Ogun State, positioned by loyalists advocating for his potential candidacy.
Premature Campaigning and Party Protocols
While expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from his followers, Adeola cautioned against premature campaigning, noting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has not yet finalized its schedule for primaries and campaign activities. He stated, “I have been informed of the sighting of billboards and posters erected by supporters and groups in parts of the state soliciting support for my aspiration for Ogun 2027.”
The senator firmly asserted that he has not officially declared his intention to run for the governorship seat and remains committed to abiding by party protocols and internal discussions. He remarked, “As a loyal party man, fully cognizant of the process and relevant traditions of the progressive family for over three decades, I am yet to declare my intention as I await the timetable of the party and ongoing consultations.”
Adherence to Grassroots Politics
In his message, Adeola urged supporters to align with his established political principles, which emphasize grassroots engagement, discipline, and strict adherence to due process. “Supporters should act in tandem with my tested brand of grassroots politics, which is grounded in due process and respect for laid-down rules,” he added.
He further called on his followers to practice patience concerning the initiation of political campaigns and public endorsements. Adeola stated, “While I deeply appreciate the time, resources, and commitment of my supporters, I urge them to be guided by extant rules, especially as they relate to the appropriate timing for campaign activities such as billboards and posters.”
Appreciation for Support
In closing, Senator Adeola assured his supporters that their loyalty and sacrifices would not go unnoticed. “I value your support and assure you that your commitment to this cause will always be appreciated,” he emphasized.
