The Super Eagles of Nigeria are billed to face Russia in an international friendly match The friendly match was confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on its social media page.
Russia also confirmed the match on it football federation website, with Nigeria facing the Europeans on October 6
The match is the second of Russia’s tune-up encounters for the team’s football camp billed to take place in Russia
The encounter against Nigeria will be played in Nizhny Novgorod
The match is however not recognized by both FIFA and UEFA as both world and European football governing bodies have placed an indefinite ban on the Russia national teams
The country was slammed with the ban in February 2022, and has since not featured in any competition
The ban was put in place following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the conflict remains unresolved
Nigeria will face the Russians after playing two Africa Cup of Nations AFCON 2027 qualifiers in late September The Eric Chelle team host Madagascar on September 25 before travelling to face Guinea Bissau four days later.
Nigeria and Russia have each other just once, a 1-1 draw in another friendly match in June last year
