The Senator representing Niger South Senatorial District, Peter Jiya, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and read at the plenary on Tuesday, Senator Jiya cited the long-standing crisis rocking his former party as the reason for his action.
While thanking the PDP for providing the platform that allowed him to represent his constituents in the Senate, Jiya wished the party well in its future endeavors.
Our correspondent reports that Senator Jiya, a lawyer, was elected in 2023.
