Lagos DSVA Responds to Viral Domestic Abuse Case
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed the arrest and arraignment of a man accused of cutting off his ex-partner’s finger in a suspected domestic abuse case.
The agency swung into action after discovering a distress video posted by the victim on TikTok on March 22, where she pleaded for help and explained the ordeal.
Case Details and Investigation
The incident occurred on March 21, 2026, and was reported at the FESTAC Police Station Tactical Squad. Preliminary investigations showed that the suspect inflicted severe injuries, including the loss of a finger.
The case was charged to court at Court 6, MBA Ajegunle, on March 25, 2026, and the suspect was remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre pending further proceedings.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦200,000 with two sureties, and the next court hearing is scheduled for April 29, 2026.

The DSVA has referred the survivor for psychosocial support to aid her recovery and well-being.
