Kwankwaso Urges Nigerians to Prepare for 2027 Elections

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a notable figure in Nigerian politics, has called on citizens to take the upcoming 2027 general elections seriously, highlighting the need for active engagement and voter registration.
During a recent reception welcoming him into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano, Kwankwaso advised his supporters to acquire their ADC membership cards along with their INEC voters’ cards, emphasizing their vital role in exercising democratic rights.
A Call to Action
“The 2027 general elections is a special one. We must attach all levels of seriousness to it,” Kwankwaso stated. He further encouraged attendees, remarking, “From now on, to gain entrance into my house, you must present your ADC membership and INEC voters’ card as a gate pass. Therefore, I urge you to go and ensure you register with the ADC and get your voters’ card.”
Prominent Figures in Attendance
The event attracted a host of prominent political personalities, including:
- ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark
- 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi
- Former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun
- Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal
Other notable attendees included former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola, former Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha, and former Secretary to the Katsina State Government Dr. Mustapha Muhammad.
Political Engagement and Unity
Kwankwaso's speech underscored the significance of political engagement and cooperation as Nigeria gears up for the 2027 elections, signifying a renewed effort for opposition mobilization.
Additionally, it was reported that Kwankwaso has resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), citing a need for "strategic realignment" in light of the changing political landscape. He expressed gratitude to the party's leadership for their support during his tenure.
“I extend my deepest appreciation to the National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, and the entire National Working Committee for their steadfast support throughout my time,” Kwankwaso remarked.
Officially Joining ADC
The former Kano State governor and 2023 presidential candidate has now officially joined the African Democratic Congress. He registered as a member and received his party card on Monday at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano.
The event was attended by key political figures, including David Mark, Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun, signifying a significant moment in Nigeria's political scene.
