Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections in Kebbi State, Major General Aminu Bande (rtd), has resigned from the PDP.
Bande, in a letter written to the ward chairman of the PDP in Nasarawa1, Birnin-Kebbi, said his decision to leave the PDP came after a deep consideration, reflection and engagements with his associates and other stakeholders.
He said, “I write to formally tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party effective from today Sunday, 5th April, 2026”.
Bande contested against the incumbent Governor Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He added that the decision to leave the PDP became necessary because of the need to align with the decision of the generality of his people to adopt a more stable platform in promoting good, just and fair governance to the people of Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole.
Though he said further decisions on his political journey would be announced soonest, there are speculations that he is on his way to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
