Alhaji Shehu Kabiru Bayero, the District Head of Dorayi, who held the traditional title of Barde Kerarriyar in the Kano Emirate, has passed away in Egypt
The Kano State Emirate disclosed this in a statement posted on Facebook on Tuesday
The emirate prayed to Allah to grant him eternal rest and grant his family and the Kano Royal House the fortitude to bear the loss
The statement was silent on when the remains of the district head would be brought to Nigeria for burial
Bayero was redeployed from Gwarzo in 2025 to the newly created District of Dorayi by the reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi
The deceased was first appointed as Barde Kerarriya by the late Emir Ado Bayero in 2006 and deployed to Takai Local Government as District Head and was later redeployed to Gwarzo
He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1970 as a police constable and rose to the rank of police commissioner serving in Gombe and Osun states before his retirement after 35 years in service
His father the late Kabiru Bayero served as Native Authority police chief before his appointment as Barde Kerarriya by Emir Muhammadu Sanusi the first
Kabiru Bayero, the deceased’s father, was succeeded as a local police chief by his brother the late Emir Ado Bayero in the 1950s
