The Kano State Judicial Service Commission has recalled two Upper Shariah court judges from judicial duties for misconduct and receipt of gratification.
The commission, at its 89th Meeting, took major disciplinary and administrative decisions in line with its mandate to uphold discipline, integrity and accountability within the judiciary.
According to the commission, Mallam Salisu Buhari Mandawari, of Upper Shari’a Court Rogo, was found to have engaged in acts amounting to demand and receipt of gratification and failed to properly record court proceedings.
The commission directed his demotion by two grade levels and recall from judicial duties for a period of not less than three (3) years with half salary.
Another Judge, Umar Sunusi Danbaba of Upper Shari’a Court Filin Hockey, was found guilty of acts of bias, failure to properly record proceedings, improper handling of funds and other acts of impropriety.
His recall from judicial duties for a period of not less than three (3) years was ordered with only half salary for a period of one year.
Sokesman of Kano State Judiciary, Baba Jibo Ibrahim, in a statement, said the disciplinary measures were taken to serve as a deterrence to other judicial and court staff.
Similarly, Abdulbari Ado (Finance Registrar) and Umar Abdulhamid (Admin Registrar) who were found to have made demand and received gratification, were demoted by two grade levels with half salary for a period of one (1) year with strong warning to desist from any further misconduct.
