The Kubau Consultative Forum (KCF) has raised concerns over what it described as the growing misuse of social media by youths to spread inflammatory statements capable of triggering violence ahead of political activities in the area.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Isa Aliyu Pambegua, the forum warned that politics should not be allowed to divide communities or destroy long-standing relationships among residents of Kubau Local Government Area.
The forum noted that Kubau, comprising communities such as Zuntu, Zabi, Damau, Anchau, Kargi, Haskiya, and Pambegua, has historically been known for unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
“We are deeply concerned about the rising trend of inflammatory statements, misuse of social media platforms, and the growing culture of political hostility among some individuals, particularly the youth,” the statement said.
It added that political engagement must remain peaceful and issue-based, stressing that social media should not be turned into a tool for insults, blackmail, or the spread of misinformation..
The forum urged young people to exercise restraint online and avoid being used as agents of division or violence, reminding them that their actions could have lasting consequences on the peace of the community.
