The 4th edition of the Gas Investment Forum (GIF 2026) will hold at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, between September 29 and 30
The event will bring together government leaders, regulators, investors, financiers, energy companies, project developers, technology providers and industry professionals
According to the organisers, the two days event will focus on high-level dialogue on the investment and development opportunities shaping Nigeria’s gas economy
With the theme “Positioning Nigeria as Africa’s Global Gas Powerhouse,” the organisers said the Gas Investment Forum 2026 comes at a critical stage in Nigeria’s ambition to translate its substantial natural gas resources into increased production, infrastructure development, industrial growth, energy security and sustainable economic value
Nigeria’s gas reserves stood at 21519 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) as of 1 January 2026, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), reinforcing the scale of the resource base available to support the country’s industrial and economic ambitions.
The organizers said the 2026 Forum is convened in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Decade of Gas Initiative and the Nigerian Gas Association, bringing together key stakeholders across the gas value chain to examine the policies, projects, financing structures, infrastructure and partnerships required to move Nigeria’s gas agenda from ambition to execution
A major focus of Gas Investment Forum 2026 will be the scale of investment required to unlock the sector
The Gas Master Plan 2026 targets increased national gas production to 10 billion cubic feet per day (BCF/D) by 2027 and 12 BCF/D by 2030, while seeking to catalyze over $60 billion in new investment across the oil and gas value chain by 2030
Speaking on the Forum, Osaze Isesele, Director of Events, Gas Investment Forum, said: “Nigeria has no shortage of gas resources or ambition The defining question now is how quickly we can convert that resource base into bankable projects, reliable infrastructure, expanded supply and productive economic activity. Gas Investment Forum 2026 is designed around that execution challenge. “We are bringing government, regulators, investors, financiers, operators, project developers and technical experts into the same room to examine where the opportunities are, what is required to unlock them, and how we can accelerate the partnerships and investment needed to build a more competitive Nigerian gas economy.”
He explained that the two-day programme will provide delegates with access to strategic policy discussions, investment opportunities, project insights, technical expertise and commercial perspectives across the gas value chain
The Forum will also facilitate business networking and engagement among investors, project developers, financiers, technology providers, regulators and potential partners
