Governor Uba Sani has lived up to the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s advice, by executing projects and carrying out programmes that are benefitting the masses of Kaduna State
Barrister Basirat Fawehinmi-Biobaku, the daughter of the late pro-democracy and human rights activist, recalled what her father told the then Comrade Uba Sani when he was living in their house
According to her, the late Fawehinmi once said, “Uba, if you ever have the opportunity to serve our country, Nigeria, in any capacity, make sure you never ever forget the masses of our people’’
Fawehinmi-Biobaku whose book titled, ‘’Gani Fawehinmi And Uba Sani: A Tale Of Mentor And Mentee,’’ was presented at the Brigadier Abba Kyari Banquet Hall at the weekend, said that the Kaduna State Governor was very close to her father
‘’Together, they lived very peacefully Comrade Uba Sani lived in our house for four good years—that’s 9A Ademola Close, GRA, Ikeja. Every morning, he had breakfast with Gani. They went to the office together,’’ she disclosed.
The author said that Governor Uba Sani is following his mentor’s advice of over 30 years ago, having gone round Kaduna State and seen what he has done in the last three and half years as Governor
She said that the Governor has revamped education by building more schools and classrooms, reduced the number of out-of-school-children, by making education free from primary to secondary school levels
Fawehinmi-Biobaku also commended Governor Uba Sani for taking healthcare to the doorsteps of the people, adding that all the 255 wards in Kaduna State have Primary Healthcare Centres
According to her, the Governor has also embarked on extensive infrastructural upgrade and rural transformation across Kaduna State, which have enhanced movement of farm produce to markets, cut travel time and boosted commerce
The author also praised Governor Uba Sani for bringing peace to Kaduna State, by uniting the northern and southern parts, adding that without peace no development can take place
‘’I’m not a politician, but I must speak on this: his choice of Deputy Governor, a Christian from Southern Kaduna Governor Comrade Uba Sani, if Gani Fawehinmi were alive today, he would have been very proud of you.
‘’But I must say, my mother, Mrs Ganiat Fawehinmi, who used to cook for you in the house, is extremely proud of you. Mama couldn’t be here today. Mama is 77; she does not go out again.
‘’But she asked me to tell you: Gani lives on We know. Uba, well done. In Comrade Uba Sani, Gani definitely lives on,’’ Barrister Fawehinmi-Biobaku added.
