Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has received the Digital Governor of the Year Award at the Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms
The award was received on the governor’s behalf by the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), Dr Habib Gajam
Gajam announced the development in a statement posted on his social media handle, describing the recognition as an acknowledgement of the state government’s efforts to promote digital transformation and improve public service delivery
He said the administration had invested in digital infrastructure, internet connectivity, electronic platforms and digital skills development to make public services more efficient, inclusive and technology-driven
Gajam identified the establishment of the Zamfara Institute of Information Technology (ZIIT) as one of the administration’s major initiatives to equip residents, particularly young people, with relevant digital skills
He said the institute was expected to prepare young people to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the digital economy
According to him, the award was both a recognition of the government’s achievements and a call to strengthen efforts towards digital inclusion, innovation and the use of technology to promote good governance
The Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards recognise initiatives that deploy technology and digital innovation to improve public service delivery
