The Sokoto State Government will construct the dilapidated Layin Gidan Bello Dan Baba Road in Waziri C Ward of Sokoto North Local Government Area of the state
Governor Ahmed Aliyu announced this on Saturday evening when he visited the area to condole with the family of the late popular Islamic poet, Musa Mai Akwai Gidadawa, as part of his condolence visits to bereaved families across the metropolis
The governor expressed dismay over the deplorable condition of the road and assured the community of the state government’s commitment to addressing the situation
He said the intervention was necessary, considering the vital role the road plays in the socio-economic well-being of the people of the area
“I have seen the deplorable condition of this road and, frankly speaking, I am touched by what I saw”
“I assure you that we will soon send a team of engineers to assess the condition of the road and advise the government on the appropriate action to take,” he said
The governor added that his condolence visits across the state had, on several occasions, provided him with first-hand information about the challenges confronting various communities
“We have, through these condolence visits, identified many challenges confronting communities, some of which we have since addressed,” Aliyu added
The Governor assured the people of the state of his administration’s continued determination to improve their well-being through people-oriented projects and interventions
He solicited the continued support and cooperation of the people of the state towards achieving this objective
