Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Sunday joined Muslim faithful in Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr festival, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
The governor, who observed the two raka’at Eid prayer alongside residents, called for unity, peace, and sustained support for security efforts across the country.
Speaking shortly after the prayers, Fintiri stressed the importance of national cohesion and urged Nigerians to continue backing initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and stability.
He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their bravery and sacrifice in protecting the nation’s territorial integrity, particularly in the fight against insurgency, describing their role as critical to Nigeria’s stability.
The governor noted that Madagali, once a major hotspot of insurgent activities, is now experiencing relative peace. He attributed the improvement to the resilience and dedication of security personnel working in the area.
Fintiri therefore called on citizens to complement the military’s efforts through vigilance, cooperation, and timely sharing of information with relevant authorities.
The governor also participated in cultural activities, including a symbolic horse-riding display, reflecting the rich heritage of the North-East and a renewed sense of normalcy in the area.
