Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, has described the ongoing Local Government elections as peaceful, free and fair, expressing confidence that the process would produce a positive outcome.
Speaking to journalists shortly after casting his vote at Yahaya Umaru 010 Jekadafari, the governor said voter turnout was impressive and commended both the electorate and election officials for conducting themselves in an orderly manner.
“The turnout is very impressive, and the conduct of both the voters and election managers has been commendable. Everyone is behaving responsibly and in the right manner,” he said.
He noted that he had fulfilled his civic responsibility and disclosed that the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, had also cast his vote.
“Others will equally cast their votes. The election is free, fair and peaceful, and I believe the outcome will be positive for all of us,” he said.
The governor urged residents to continue to conduct themselves peacefully and exercise their democratic rights without intimidation.
“We have witnessed a series of local government elections that have been peaceful and successful, and I believe this one will also be positive. As you can see, the atmosphere is calm, and we thank God for everything,” he added.
The governor also said the election was progressing smoothly in all parts of the state.
“The election is being conducted peacefully everywhere, and there is no problem. I believe that within a matter of hours, collation will commence and results will begin to emerge,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the peaceful conduct of the exercise would strengthen confidence in the democratic process.
