Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the safety of lives and property, declaring security as the topmost agenda of his government.
The governor gave the assurance while receiving the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, during the traditional Sallah homage to mark Eid-el-Fitr at the Government House.
Yahaya said his administration would continue to strengthen measures aimed at sustaining peace and stability across the state, noting that security remains critical to development.
He also urged residents to uphold unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence as demonstrated during the Ramadan period.
The governor expressed appreciation to the Emir for his continued support, prayers and guidance, describing the relationship between his administration and the traditional institution as vital to the successes recorded so far.
“Our relationship with the traditional institution, especially with the Emir of Gombe, has been very cordial and productive. The support and cooperation we receive have greatly contributed to the peace and development of our state,” he said.
Reflecting on the past seven years, Yahaya said his administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth, with notable achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and economic reforms.
Earlier, the Emir commended the governor’s leadership and developmental strides across sectors, noting that he has fulfilled and even surpassed the promises made to the people at the start of his administration. He also praised the government’s efforts in promoting peace, unity and inclusive governance.
