‘Widow’s Bay’ dominated the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, setting a new record with 14 awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, as the 2026 ceremony produced a night of historic wins and broke the previous comedy single-season record of 13 set by ‘The Studio’
The series emerged as the biggest winner of the night, setting a new single-season record for wins by a comedy series at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards with 14 total victories while ‘The Pitt’ claimed Outstanding Drama Series and ‘DTF St Louis’ won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Matthew Rhys was one of the night’s biggest stars, making history after winning two lead acting awards — Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for ‘Widow’s Bay’ and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for ‘The Beast in Me’
Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Hacks’, extending her record to five consecutive wins in the category
Rhea Seehorn won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for ‘Pluribus’, while Noah Wyle took Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for ‘The Pitt’ Sally Field won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’.
