The former Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Edison Ehie, has dismissed reports linking him to a purported 2027 deputy governorship ambition.
Ehie, in a statement on Saturday, described the claim as false and politically motivated.
He was reacting to a poster in public space which alleged that he was part of a planned political arrangement on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The poster claimed that Ehie was aligned with former Director-General of NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside, in a bid to “free Rivers from the hands of one man.”
He described the narrative as “mischievous and desperate,” insisting that it was a calculated attempt to mislead the public and create division within the state’s political space.
He firmly denied any involvement in such a political arrangement, stressing that the use of his name in the alleged campaign material was unauthorized and misleading.
The APC stalwart, who had served as the deputy speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC.
He also declared his continued support for the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
Ehie further stated that Rivers State does not require “rescue from imaginary enemies,” noting that the state is currently witnessing purposeful leadership and unity under the present administration.
He cautioned those behind the alleged propaganda to desist, adding that the people of Rivers State are politically conscious and cannot be swayed by false narratives.
The former lawmaker urged residents to disregard the poster and remain focused on the collective progress of the state, reiterating that his allegiance remains with the APC and the leadership of Governor Fubara.
