In a significant political development shaking Kano State's political landscape, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the erstwhile Special Adviser on Media to former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has officially announced his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Yakasai, a prominent political voice, made the declaration via his verified social media channels on Monday, terming the pivotal switch a “new journey” in his extensive political career. His decision, he revealed, was not taken lightly, but followed meticulous and wide-ranging consultations with his family, close friends, and numerous political associates who share his vision.
Confirming the formal steps of his transition, the former People’s Redemption Party (PRP) Governorship candidate for the 2023 elections stated, “After consultations with family, friends, and fellow political associates, we have decided to join the ADC, a new journey! I have already submitted my resignation letter to the APC and registered with our new party, the ADC.” This confirms his complete disengagement from the APC and his full embrace of the ADC platform.
Looking to galvanize support for his new political home, Yakasai strongly encouraged his followers and prospective members to utilize the ADC's convenient online registration portal, emphasizing the swift process for obtaining membership cards digitally.
Expressing profound optimism for the ADC's future, Yakasai shared his aspirations, offering a prayer for divine guidance and resounding success. He voiced hopes that the African Democratic Congress would ascend to power, forming governments across Nigeria and, in doing so, usher in an era of progress and prosperity for all citizens. “We pray to Almighty God that this decision will be for the best, that the ADC will form governments across the country, and that it will bring blessings to all Nigerians,” he concluded.
