A fire outbreak has razed the residence of the Vice Chairman of the Kwali Area Council chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Abdullahi Kaura, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Kaura, who spoke to our reporter, said the incident occurred on Friday at about 9:12 a.m.
He explained that the fire broke out shortly after electricity was restored to the area, destroying the entire building and valuables within.
According to him, the fire started from his wife’s apartment after thick smoke was noticed billowing from her room, before spreading rapidly to other parts of the house.
“All the valuables, including electronic gadgets, clothes and other important materials, were completely burnt,” he said.
Kaura added that the fire quickly engulfed the entire building, noting that neighbours were not around to offer immediate assistance as many had left for work.
He said by the time firefighters arrived at the scene, the house had already been destroyed.
Despite the loss, he expressed gratitude that lives were not lost in the incident.
“I thank God that no member of my family was affected. It is painful, but we accept it in good faith,” he said.
Meanwhile, the chairman-elect of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hon. Mohammed Kasim Ikwa, has sympathised with Kaura over the incident.
Ikwa, who visited the victim’s residence in Kwali on Saturday, described the incident as unfortunate and shocking.
He also urged unity and compassion, noting that support from the community remains crucial in times of distress.
