Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has assured the newly posted Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Hassan Umar, of the state government’s full backing in consolidating security across the state.
The governor gave the assurance when the police chief paid a courtesy visit to Government House, Yola. Fintiri described him as a seasoned and disciplined officer, well equipped for the task of sustaining peace and order.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to work in close synergy with security agencies, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property remains a cardinal responsibility of government. The governor observed that while the state once grappled with security challenges, the situation has improved considerably through deliberate coordination and sustained collaboration with security operatives.
Fintiri pledged continued support in critical areas such as logistics, intelligence sharing and personnel welfare, noting that effective policing thrives on both institutional backing and operational efficiency.
He charged the Commissioner of Police to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, urging him to remain neutral, fair and guided strictly by the rule of law. He stressed that security must never be compromised by political considerations.
In his remarks, CP Kabir Hassan Umar expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the confidence reposed in him, pledging to deploy his experience toward strengthening peace and stability in Adamawa State.
The police commissioner also commended the administration’s strides in infrastructure and governance, describing them as impactful and people-oriented. He assured that the command would reinforce its security architecture to address evolving threats while deepening community policing efforts.
Umar called on residents to partner with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information, reaffirming the command’s commitment to professionalism and the protection of all citizens.
