Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has described entrepreneurship and technological innovation as critical tools for tackling poverty, creating economic opportunities and improving the living standards of citizens
Fintiri stated this while inaugurating the Chairman and members of the Governing Board of the Adamawa State College of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Studies, Gulak, at the Government House, Yola, on Friday
The Governor said the establishment and development of institutions focused on technology, innovation and entrepreneurship were important to equipping young people with practical skills, promoting self-reliance and preparing them to participate meaningfully in the modern economy
He said members of the Governing Board were carefully selected based on their proven integrity, competence and experience, urging them to bring their expertise to bear in providing sound advice, developing innovative ideas and giving the institution the strategic direction required to achieve its objectives
Fintiri noted that his administration had continued to introduce policies and programmes aimed at reducing poverty, expanding opportunities and improving the socioeconomic wellbeing of the people of Adamawa State
He charged the board to work diligently towards positioning the college as a centre for technological advancement, innovation, skills development and entrepreneurship capable of producing graduates who would become job creators rather than solely job seekers
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated board, its Chairman, Chief Leonard Nzadon, thanked Governor Fintiri for the confidence reposed in them and pledged that members would work diligently to justify the trust placed in them
Nzadon commended the Fintiri administration for its efforts towards tackling poverty and improving the welfare of citizens, assuring the Governor of the board’s commitment to supporting the objectives for which the institution was established
He also called on the people of Adamawa State to continue supporting the administration in its efforts to advance the development of the state
