Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has been conferred with the traditional title “Lakaa ka Michika” at the 2026 Michika Annual Cultural Festival.
The governor, who described culture as key to preserving identity and history, said the creation of the Michika Chiefdom reflects his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions for peace and unity.
He also assured residents of improved security and plans to reconnect the area to the national grid.
Chairman of the occasion and NDLEA boss, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd), emphasized the need to preserve cultural values and promote unity for development.
The Mbege Ka Michika, Professor Bulus Luka Gadiga, said the title—meaning “Sword for Peace”—recognises Fintiri’s efforts in maintaining peace. He also pledged continued support for the administration and announced initiatives on education and youth empowerment.
The event featured dignitaries and colourful cultural displays.
