Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has attended the 13th regular meeting of the North-East Governors’ Forum (NEGF) in Maiduguri, Borno State, where leaders of the six states deliberated on security, economic integration and infrastructure development across the region
The two-day meeting, held from October 2 to 3, 2026, brought together governors and senior government officials from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states
At the end of the meeting, the Forum called on the Federal Government to revive stalled oil exploration activities in Borno State, particularly in Magumeri and Gubio Local Government Areas
Reading the communiqué, Governor Fintiri, who serves as Vice Chairman of the Forum, urged the Federal Government to revisit petroleum exploration activities previously commenced in the two areas but subsequently stalled
The governors also deliberated on measures aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, addressing security challenges and accelerating socioeconomic and infrastructure development across the North-East
