The Super Eagles of Nigeria have maintained their position on the FIFA men’s world ranking. The latest rankings released on Wednesday shows the Super Eagles sitting unperturbed in 26th position. Following AFCON 2025 where Nigeria won bronze and moved to 26th in the world, the Super Eagles have played two games during the period under consideration for the ranking. Nigeria played the four-nation friendly invitational tournament in Turkey where it defeated Iran and was held to a 2-2 draw by Jordan to win the tourney.
Eric Chelle’s side were unbeaten in the period alongside other African nations in the top-seven on the continent.
The top-10 in Africa remains unchanged, with Morocco, awarded AFCON 2025 by CAF’s Appeal board, still top on the continent and eighth in the world, while Senegal, stripped of the AFCON 2025 title, are still second in Africa but dropped two places to 14th in the world. Nigeria are third in Africa, with Algeria and Egypt completing the top-five.
France toppled Spain who dropped to second to take over the number one position. Argentina are third, while Brazil dropped out of the top five nations in the world to sixth, and the Selecao were replaced by Portugal.
Vietnam are the biggest climber and won the most points to move up to nine places to 99th, while Malaysia dropped 17 places and lost most points. Kosovo also achieved the highest ranking ever, rising up to 78th in the world.
The next FIFA ranking will be announced on June 10, on the eve of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
