The Chairman of the Abaji Area Council of the FCT, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, has disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to transition from the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to solar power across the council. Abdullahi made the disclosure shortly after he was formally turbaned with the traditional title of Magajin Garin Abaji by the Ona of Abaji and Chairman of the FCT Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, at his palace on Saturday. He said the decision to switch from AEDC electricity to a solar system was aimed at ending the perennial power problems facing residents for months.
He attributed these issues to “saboteurs” who are intent on denying the people of the council access to electricity. In his response, the Ona of Abaji, HRM Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, said the palace decided to turban the council chairman because of his commitment to the development of Abaji and his focus on youth and women empowerment. While congratulating the Chairman, the monarch urged him to ensure his administration remains inclusive for the betterment of the council.
“We have been seeing your good work and the compassion and zeal you have for the development of the entire Abaji Area Council, which is why the palace decided to confer the traditional title of Magajin Garin Abaji upon you,” the monarch said.
