ADC Suspends Atiku Abubakar and Babachir Lawal Over Alleged Misconduct in Adamawa State
A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has taken a significant step by suspending prominent political figures, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal.
The suspension, announced by the factional chairman, Alhaji Raji Zumo, stems from allegations of gross indiscipline. Zumo revealed that the suspension also affects members of the Sadiq Dasin-led executive council of the faction.
Allegations and Consequences
According to Zumo, those affected would be subjected to further disciplinary procedures. He emphasized that the ADC is not a personal property and stressed that the faction would not allow any individual or group, no matter how highly placed, to hijack the party or turn it into a personal estate.
The faction also accused Atiku and Lawal of attempting to impose candidates on the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. Zumo stated that such actions have brought the party into disrepute and stressed that the faction would not tolerate any conduct capable of undermining its integrity.
