A Former Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and serving member representing Yola South Constituency, Hon Kabiru Mijinyawa, has resigned his membership of the All progressives Congress (APC).
Mijinyawa, who served as Speaker under the administration of Former Governor Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, reportedly joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), led by Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, the party’s governorship candidate in the State
In a letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Adarawo in Yola South Local Government Area, and dated September 12, 2026, Mijinyawa formally notified his resignation from the party with immediate effect
“This decision was not taken lightly However, I have become deeply concerned with the manner in which the recent APC primary election in my constituency was conducted. The process lacked fairness, transparency, and credibility, and was inconsistent with the principles of internal democracy.
“As a committed and future-oriented politician who strongly believes in fairness, justice, accountability, and democratic values, I can no longer associate myself with a process that I consider unjustifiable and contrary to the ideals of democracy
“I therefore respectfully tender my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) I wish the party and its members well in their future endeavors.
“I remain committed to the ideals of democracy, justice, transparency, and good governance, and I hope these values will continue to guide political participation and leadership in our state and country” Mijinyawa said.
His move to the APM marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, particularly in Yola South, where he represents the constituency in the State House of Assembly
