The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has felicitated Muslims across Nigeria and beyond on the occasion of Eid-El-Maulud 1448 AH, commemorating the birth of the noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a message to the Muslim Ummah through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau urged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the exemplary life, teachings and virtues of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), particularly his lessons of compassion, patience, justice, honesty, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence
He said the best way to honour the Prophet is to emulate his noble character and apply his teachings in their daily lives, families, communities and responsibilities as citizens
Senator Barau, who is the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, urged Muslims and other Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country, particularly for lasting peace, security, unity and progress
According to him, the challenges confronting the country require collective prayers, patriotism and commitment from all Nigerians
As the country approaches the 2027 general elections, the Deputy President of the Senate appealed to political leaders, supporters and citizens to place the interest of Nigeria above partisan considerations
He urged all political actors to conduct their activities with decorum and respect for democratic values, while avoiding hate speech, violence, misinformation and other actions capable of threatening the peace and unity of the Nation
“Let us draw inspiration from the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), particularly his emphasis on peace, justice, patience and brotherhood As we approach the 2027 elections, we must ensure that our political differences do not divide us as a people or undermine the peace of our dear country, the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
