Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has urged Muslims to sustain the virtues of unity, compassion, and generosity beyond the holy month of Ramadan.
The governor, who made the call on Friday shortly after observing the two raka’at Eid-el-Fitr prayer, also assured grieving families of his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the state.
Radda described Eid-el-Fitr as a significant moment for Muslims worldwide, marking the end of Ramadan and offering an opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to societal harmony.
According to him, the celebration provides a platform for the Muslim Ummah to strengthen bonds of unity, love, and mutual support, stressing that the core values of Ramadan should be sustained beyond the fasting period.
“Today is a very significant day in the life of Muslims all over the world. It marks the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. It is a day of joy for the Muslim Ummah,” the governor said.
“I join millions of Muslims across the world in wishing everyone a happy and blessed Eid, and I call for unity, harmony, and support for one another, as taught during Ramadan,” he added.
He urged citizens to continue embracing fairness, kindness, and generosity, particularly towards the less privileged, noting that such virtues are essential for building a peaceful and cohesive society.
The governor commended residents for their resilience and cooperation in the face of security challenges, while also praising security agencies and community members for their efforts in maintaining stability across the state.
He, however, noted that this year’s Eid comes amid grief for families who lost loved ones in recent incidents, assuring them that the government shares in their pain and remains committed to ending insecurity.
“We deeply sympathise with families who have lost their loved ones, and we want to assure them that efforts are ongoing to bring an end to these unfortunate incidents,” he said.
“We are hopeful that, by the next Sallah, in sha Allah, our people will celebrate in peace, safety, and happiness,” he added.
Radda also prayed for divine protection, peace, and prosperity for Katsina State and Nigeria, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to safeguard lives and improve the well-being of the people.
