Barely 24hourrs after the visit of African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders to Bauchi State, a powerful delegation of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, also came to the state and had a closed door meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed.
Our correspondent learnt that the meeting centered around trying is to persuade Gov Mohammed not to defect to the ADC or in the alternative consider moving to APC.
The Governor, at the end of the meeting, told newsmen that a final decision on the defection would be taken soon with a formal declaration expected by Thursday.
He said, “We are very conscious of the timeline. Everything will be concluded by Thursday so that we can move forward together. You will hear a firm commitment from us.”
The delegation which included the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, was at the Governor’s Office within the Government House and went into a closed door meeting with the Governor and a few members of the National Assembly, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abubakar Y Suleiman, the SSG, Aminu Hammayo, Chief of Staff, and others.
Though full details of the meeting were yet to be disclosed at the tie of filing this report, an insider disclosed that the discussions centered around the move by the Governor and his supporters to move to the ADC.
At the end of the meeting which lasted about 1hour, anxious journalists were disappointed as none of the members of the delegation spoke.
As soon as they came out from the Governor’s Office, they headed into their respective vehicles to the airport and back to Abuja. Daily Trust had reported that governor Mohammed, has indicated plans to defect to the ADC saying the party has the potential to unseat the ruling APC.
