The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reiterated its commitment to improving lives in communities and schools as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, stated this in Abuja yesterday during the one-year anniversary of “Customs Cares,” the service’s flagship CSR initiative, and the commissioning of a renovated assembly hall at Government Secondary School, Wuse Zone 3.
“We have decided to step up our CSR efforts, and in the last one year, a lot has been done to improve the lives of communities in the FCT and other parts of the country.
“At the Customs Service, our work is not only to collect revenue on behalf of the government; we also give back to society and schools, which is why we are commissioning this renovated assembly hall today.
“We know that this kind of facility exists in many secondary schools in the FCT and across the country, and we will continue to do our best.
“We call on the management to ensure adequate maintenance of the facility. The Customs would like to see results, especially in terms of improved WAEC performance of students from this school, because the whole idea is to provide a conducive learning environment,” he said.
Also speaking, the principal of the school, Josephine Ogwu, said students had already begun using the hall for examinations, while appealing for more equipment to further enhance learning.
