Cameroon was unchanged while Malawi made one change due to a red card in the semi-final, and it was the former that dominated from the first whistle
They had never scored in their first three WAFCON finals, but scored the opener here on 20 minutes through Marie Ngah Manga’s header at the back post
Cameroon doubled their lead on 30 minutes thanks to Naomi Eto’s precise volley into the bottom corner from a poorly cleared corner kick Nga Manga made it 3-0 seconds before the halftime whistle, finishing a team move to register her second of the night and fifth goal of the tournament.
Cameroon became the first country to win the WAFCON title after failing to qualify through the standard group qualifiers They made the tournament based on FIFA women’s world ranking.
Cameroon ended a run of three WAFCON final defeats with this victory, and became only the second Central African nation to win the WAFCON title after Equatorial Guinea in 2012
