A renowned entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer of All Seasons Hotel Owerri, Evangelist Mike Obinna Chieze Ikemsinachi Ikoku, has empowered over 1,000 residents of Imo State during a mega Easter celebration held in Obinocha village, Nkwerre Local Government Area.
The event, which took place on Easter Saturday, April 4, drew a massive crowd and turned into a carnival-like gathering, far exceeding its initial plan as a modest community outing for indigenes of Obinocha.
Attendees included children, youths, women, and men from Obinocha and neighbouring communities such as Ishe-Owerri, Owerri Nkwoji, Umudi-Umuwala, Amaegbu, and other surrounding areas. Eyewitnesses described the turnout as unprecedented in the history of the community, with additional guests arriving from nearby villages and a large delegation from All Seasons Hotel.
Addressing the crowd, Ikoku said the event was organised for four major reasons. He expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to witness another Easter celebration, marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
He also used the occasion to commend Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for what he described as strides in economic growth, infrastructure, job creation, and peace-building across the state.
Ikoku specifically highlighted ongoing road projects connecting major parts of the state and the construction of a modern flyover in Owerri, noting that such developments have strengthened Imo’s position nationally.
He further stressed the importance of returning home to celebrate with his people, promoting unity among community members, while clarifying that he has no political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I am not contesting for any political office. My focus is to continue supporting the governor in achieving more for the state,” he said.
The highlight of the celebration was a large-scale empowerment programme, during which all attendees were treated to a lavish meal comprising rice, meat, assorted drinks, and wines.
In addition, each participant received a bag of rice and cash gifts, regardless of whether they were invited.
Community members expressed surprise at the scale of the gesture, noting that such an initiative had never been witnessed in Obinocha.
Prayers were offered for the governor, members of his administration, the Imo State House of Assembly, and traditional rulers, while special commendations were also given to Ikoku and his family for the philanthropic initiative.
Observers said the businessman’s actions underscored a strong commitment to community development and set a notable example of private philanthropy in the region.
